Reflection: This is an upper division GE course in area D. In this course we study of the relationship of humans and clothing within their cultural and social environment. This course is an introduction to the fundamentals of social psychology in the examination of clothing and appearance. Clothing and appearance are studied as forms of nonverbal communication and as devices for expressing cultural and social values. Given the diverse nature of these topics, I rely on the diversity each student brings to the class and therefore I use group discussions as a key source of relating the content to our student body and showing examples that are easy to comprehend and visualize.

I have implemented prompt inquiry with concept exploration during a class where I had students survey their behavior on an online quiz and then we did the lecture and discussed average scores nationally. I also ensured that they had to post before seeing other responses. This made them more engaged and hands on. Made the topic more personal and they were more honest since it was before the lecture material.

While assessing my interaction with the FLC activities, I would identify the expert videos as one of the most influential items leading to the changes I made in my instruction. These were effective because they provided a diverse look at teaching and implementation styles. They were also short and I was able to view them when on the go versus having to be stationary at a desk, making the content more easily accessible.

During our small group observe and learn session, I had the opportunity to see others implementing some of the topics in their field of teaching and it was great to see the different ways they related the content. For example one of my group members used a collaborative note-taking strategy that I decided to adapt into my teaching as well.

	Faculty Bio: Jaleh Naasz teaches Fashion courses at Sac State in the Fashion Merchandising & Management program. Jaleh has been an educator for the last 17 years and aims to engage students in an effective and relevant way to keep them engaged and active in their study. Jaleh is a first generation immigrant and looks to communicate with students from different backgrounds and motivate them to share their perspectives to make the learning environment as inclusive and diverse as possible.
