Reflection on Instructional Change:

implemented ACUE practice: AL4 active learning: Engage students in an active learning cycle.

The purpose is to engage students in an active learning cycle: prompt questions with concept exploration, and then students work with small group/pair to apply their new learning through concept application.

The use of the practice impacted my teaching and student learning: Through practicing, discussing and interacting with classmates, students gain greater connection with peers, and receive timely feedback from classmates as well as from the instructor. Students were shy about speaking up and sharing their thoughts in the class discussion, Their written assignments presented good arguments and included evidence from the textbook and additional readings.

The most influential ACUE course activities is Online Discussion Forum: Asynchronous discussion threads with colleagues. I appreciate feedback and comments from colleagues and I also enjoy sharing my own thoughts and teaching strategies. Listening to colleagues who have similar issues, make me feel that I am not alone with the type of challenges. I am encouraged by positive comments and determine to improve my teaching practice. In addition, I like the Implementation Resources, and save them for later use.

The participation in "Observe and Analyze Session": my two colleagues demonstrated strategies they use in online courses. I learned about developing effective microlectures: chunk information into short, standalone videos. I plan to develop video clips of microlectures that will provide opportunities for students to process, retrieve, and apply the instructional information.

Faculty Bio
	I teach undergraduate general education courses and teaching credentials program. I enjoy reading, several of my favorite books are Little princes, Charlotte’s web, To kill a mocking bird, Siddharthe, Harry Potter. I also like hiking and feel fortunate to live in California, such a wonderful place to explore the beauty of nature.
