Peer-Led Academic Support Networks: A Pathway to Provide Equity in Difficult Courses in Higher Education

Reflection on implementation of Equity: support in my course:

The CSC-130 is a challenging and very specialized course that will require additional instructions and guidance for students who are not native English speakers or if they did not have much exposure to Technology. Bringing equity to this course will enable the targeted groups of students with additional resources and support to succeed in the course and their educational journeys.

I found the contents in Hammond's "Culturally Responsive Teaching and the Brain" and McGuire's "Teach Students How to Learn" very important topics that fulfill the gaps identified in the education system and the teaching processes we follow. With inclusion and an equitable education system, we can be more successful.

I can work with ASI leaders to provide support and guidance about the objective of ASI. In addition, I can work with ASI leaders to schedule activities and conversations promoting the content in either McGuire's or Hammond's books.

Reflection on My Cultural Awareness

The cultural tree presents the surface, shallow, and deep cultural background of myself. It has provided guidance and direction for me to understand the differences due to cultural differences. I am definitely happy to be part of this program where I am understanding and recognizing myself to contribute back to the learning community.

Peer-to-peer education is a very impressive and important process that provides the process of excellent transformation toward an equitable and more diverse learning environment. Going forward, I would love to be part of this amazing team where I can learn more and contribute further in the program toward an equitable, diverse, and culturally sensitive education system.
