Reflection on Instructional Change:

During the fall 2023 semester, I used activities to help improve student learning skills in my EEE180 Signals and Systems class. I divided the students in my EEE180 class into groups, and distributed one lesson-specific item to each group, and then encouraged each group to discuss and answer questions about the subject.

After the midterm exam, I randomly divided my EEE180 students into groups. I also allowed them to change their groups by emailing me. I then provided them with course-related problems and asked them to use the Matlab tool to solve the problems by having discussions with their group members. I provided some lessons to guide students. I then checked with them on their progress and answered their questions. I gave students enough time to complete the group discussions, and at the end, they posted their discussion results on Canvas. By implementing this practice, students can enhance their learning by using the Matlab tool to visualize some signal and system concepts.

I found the activities organized by this Faculty Learning Community (FLC) to be helpful overall. These activities provided me with different learning options. During the Fall 2023 semester, I experimented with a new teaching strategy by providing my EEE180 students with the Matlab tool and stimulated their exploration of signal and system concepts. Matlab's visualization function inspires students to establish inquiry thinking and prepares them for lifelong learning, which is beneficial for their career skill development.

In fall 2023, it took me some time to find the appropriate way to implement my new teaching strategy. It also took students some time to complete their discussion work. Overall, I enjoyed reading my colleagues’ forum discussions while attending this FLC.

**Faculty Bio**
	Professor Pang received her Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Ohio University in 2003. In 2003, she became an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at California State University, Sacramento (CSUS). She is currently an EEE professor at CSUS.
