Septima Clark was, by definition, an activist for Black Civil Rights, She believed that power was strongest when Black people were active in voting and politics. For Clark, based on her perspective as a Black, educated, activist from the South, she understood that in order to preclude Black people from being ignored and dismissed in our oppressive society, they needed to become active members in the civic and political spheres.
