Record Locally
Local recording allows you to record the meeting video and audio to a computer. The recorded files can be uploaded to our campus video distribution service (Panopto) or to another 3rd-party streaming service like YouTube or Vimeo.
IMPORTANT: We recommend you Record to the Cloud for easier sharing options and to not have to upload the large files to another video service to share.
Note: Local recording is not supported on iOS and Android. See cloud recording if you are using a mobile device.

Share Your Local Recordings
There are many ways that you can share your local Zoom recordings. We recommend that use our campus video distribution service (Panopto) to upload and share your videos.
- Upload your recorded video to Panopto
- Share your uploaded video from Panopto
- For other 3rd-party streaming services like YouTube or Vimeo, follow their steps to upload and share your video.
Record to the Cloud
When you record a meeting and choose Record to the Cloud, the video, audio, and chat text are recorded in the Zoom cloud. The recorded files can be downloaded to a computer or streamed from a browser.
IMPORTANT: If you create your account in Panopto, then all your future Zoom Cloud Recordings enabled below are also automatically copied to Panopto. Once the recordings are in Panopto, you can use their extensive options to edit and share your videos.
Enable Cloud Recording
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal at https://csus.zoom.us Links to an external site..
- In the navigation panel, click Settings Links to an external site..
- Navigate to the Recording tab and verify that the Cloud Recording setting is enabled.
Notes:- If the setting is disabled, then click the Status toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, then choose Turn On to verify the change.
- If the option is grayed out, then it is locked. Please create a Service-Now ticket

Trim Cloud Recordings
Another option is to change the starting and/or ending point of the recording. To do this you can use the "Set Playback Range" feature. You also need to disable the download option for the specific recording to prevent the full recording from being downloaded.
Set Playback Range
- Sign in to your CSUS Zoom account at https://csus.zoom.us/ Links to an external site.
- In your Zoom account, click the "Recordings" option from menu on the left
- From the Cloud Recordings list, locate the recording and click on its name (topic)
Zoom Recordings Window - Click the Play button on the recording thumbnail.
Zoom Recording Thumbnail - Locate the scissors icon and click on it. The Set Playback Range information window will display. Click the "Got it" button.
Zoom Trim Option - Move the playhead to the location you would like to start the recording to begin playing. You can do the same to indicate a preferred end location.

Delete Cloud Recordings
- Sign in to the Zoom web portal at https://csus.zoom.us Links to an external site..
- In the navigation panel on the left, click "Recordings".
- Select the recording that you would like to delete.

Share Cloud Recordings
- Sign in to your Zoom web portal at https://csus.zoom.us Links to an external site.
- In the navigation menu on the left, click Recordings.
A list of cloud recordings is displayed. - Adjust the date range and status, then search by host, meeting ID, topic, or keyword.
Note: There is no limit on the date you can specify. - Click on the meeting you would like to share.
Zoom Recordings Page - Click on "Copy Shareable Link" to copy the link. You can now paste that link in an email or message and share it with others.

How to "Hide" Cloud Recordings
At this time, you can "hide" cloud recordings by disabling the share option. Although the recording is listed in the Cloud Recordings area, anyone with a link is unable to playback the recording you choose to hide.
Please note: The recordings will play for you, however, since you are the host. If anyone else attempts to access the recordings, they see the message "You cannot view this recording. No permission".
- Login to your CSUS Zoom account at https://csus.zoom.us/ Links to an external site.
- In your Zoom account, click the "Recordings" option from menu on the left.
- From the Cloud Recordings list, locate the recording and click the "Share" option on the right.
Zoom Share Recording Option - From the "Share this cloud recording" window, turn off the "Share this recording" option by clicking the switch on the right.
Zoom Share Cloud Recording - The "Share this recording" area, will now read "No one else can access this recording".
