Sacramento State offers faculty, staff and students a variety of technology tools:

Assessment creation and editing |
Create timed quizzes and exams with Canvas New Quizzes or use the Gradescope integration to build online assignments and tests from your own documents. Instructors can also use Respondus, to create and edit exams, import existing exams, save or print exams, publish exams to Canvas courses or access the built in test bank network. | ||
Assistive Technology |
Request JAWS a screen reader software that provides text to speech output or through a refreshable Braille display, ZoomText a magnification and reading program for low vision users and Kurzweil 3000 a reading, writing and study platform. | ||
Campus Technology Resources |
A variety of technology resources are available to faculty, staff and students including access to wireless network, Eduroam, access to on-campus computer labs or access remotely via Remote Access or request a laptop or other equipment for short or long term checkout. Navigate the internet securly using Duo multifactor authentication and Global Protect VPN. | ||
Captioning | Closed Captions are the textual representation of a video’s soundtrack which can meet the needs of students who are multilingual, assist students who are multimodal learners and are critical to provide accessibility to students who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Please only request closed captions through your Panopto Account from Automatic Sync Technologies vendor or through our Video Captioning Request form if you have been alerted by SSWD that a student enrolled in your course will require closed captions. You can also enable live captions in your Zoom meetings using the built-in Otter.ai feature. | ||
Collaborative Document Creation | Faculty, staff and students have access to Microsoft 365 supported tools including secure cloud storage via OneDrive, MS Office applications (Word, PPT, Excel) and Teams project management software. | Microsoft 365 Help & Training Links to an external site. | |
Live Polling | Create basic or advanced polls before or during a live Zoom meeting and view and share poll responses. Similarly, you can create polls with TopHat our campus student response system and with Microsoft Forms from your Microsoft 365 account. | ||
Library Resources | Create links in your Canvas course(s) to library resources such as e-books and articles. Instructors can request digitization of Library-owned course related media such as VHS or DVD for streaming as well as chapter scans of books. | ||
Note-taking and Citation Management | Microsoft OneNote is a digital notebook you can use to type notes, record audio, add images, sketch or write ideas and share notes with others. EndNote is a citation management software to organize and manage your bibliographies. | ||
Originality checking and plagiarism prevention service | Access Turnitin, an originality checking and plagiarism prevention resource that checks writing for citation mistakes or inappropriate copying from any Canvas course using the turnitin integration Plagiarism Framework or from the Turnitin.com external website. | ||
Student study and tutoring tools |
Students can access both Smarthinking and StudyMate Campus, free study and tutoring resources from Canvas. Smarthinking is an academic support resource that provides students online tutoring on a variety of subjects. Instructors and students can use StudyMate Campus to create flashcards, assessments and learning games. Survey Creation |
The Canvas Survey feature offers the option to create anonymous graded or ungraded surveys from any Canvas course and provide statistics related to reliability, difficulty and discrimination. Another option is to create your survey(s) with Qualtrics, which is our campus survey software available to all faculty, staff and students. |

Video recording, video hosting | Use Camtasia to record, edit and produce video for your courses. Panopto is our video hosting, recording and upload tool on campus. Zoom can be used to deliver live synchronous class sessions and other meetings as well as record any session to the cloud for easy access. |
