EEE 184: Introduction to Feedback Systems

Peer-to-Peer Community, Cultivating Connection, Growth Mindset

Reflection on Instructional Change:

" As part of growth mindset, I let students to submit additional simulation of their exams in order to get extra credit and I found it so helpful for students who wants to get more credit. I am also planning to have group quiz in my class as part of the growth mindset. I will have students to make groups of two members and work on a quiz. This will help student to have more collaboration while they are working as a team. This is also an attempt for peer-to-peer community as students get to know their friends more and work together as a team.

I recently asked students to work as a group on a problem with extra credit and it was a great experience. It did work well and I am planning to expand it to my future classes. I am going to have students make their groups in the beginning of the semester and then work on the problems during the semester in both quizzes and extra credit problems.

The second practice is to have group problem session. I am already doing it in my classes and students like it. I make groups of students and assign them specific problems. They work on the problem together, as I encourage them to do it, and eventually share their solutions with the entire class. I am planning to expand it to some additional online problem session and have students work together more."

Faculty Bio

Rohollah (Roham) Moghadam is an assistant professor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering department since Fall 2022. He was an assistant professor at Arkansas Tech University in Arkansas, and PennWest university in Pennsilvania. He teaches more control and machine learning approaches in control system courses. His main area of research is distributed control of multi-agent systems. cyber-physical systems, machine learning in feedback control systems, neural network and robot decision and control.
